Taking My Greek Myth Obsession to the Academic Level

This quarter, I took my first Honors class, Honors 394A: Women in Greek and Roman Antiquity. I've always been super interested in Greek mythology, from Percy Jackson to feminist retellings like Circe. When I saw this class on the Honors website, I was immediately interested. I was curious to learn more about real life during antiquity, since my knowledge was mostly limited to mythology. Additionally, I was excited to take a class that focused specifically on women, as I am a big feminist and am very interested in looking at things through a feminist and intersectional lens. This class turned out to be super interesting and I learned a lot about ancient Greek and Roman life. For my final project, I wrote a paper about female vengeance in ancient Greece. I am proud of this paper, although I did find it a bit difficult to format since the assignment was pretty loose. It was good practice in formatting and writing a formal synthesis paper, which I hadn't done yet in college. Overall, I think this class was a great introduction into Honors classes and I'm excited to take more!
