Dusting Off My Friendship Making Skills

This quarter I was faced with a challenge I haven't encountered in quite some time: making friends. I was lucky enough to come into college with a few friends (like my bestie Keira on the left) since I'm from Seattle, but I still had to work to create and foster new friendships, including my roommate relationships. As someone who values alone time and needs time to recharge, it's been a big adjustment having to share my home space with two other people. I've had to learn how to protect my peace as well as stand up for myself in any conflict that may arise. I've also learned that FOMO is not as influential for me as the lure of some time alone relaxing, a surprising realization as I always felt FOMO in high school. Overall, I feel I've made some very good friends so far, and I'm excited to continue to build relationships :)
